Entrepreneur David Cummings to Address Greater Alpharetta Tech Network (GATN) Launch Event

GATN Founded to Foster Connections, Education, Opportunities Within Local Technology Community

ALPHARETTA, Ga., March XX, 2014 – Atlanta Tech Village founder and serial tech entrepreneur David Cummings will speak about creating a community of innovation at the official launch of the Greater Alpharetta Tech Network (GATN) on Thursday, May 8, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Club on Windward Parkway. GATN’s launch event is complimentary, and all technology company executives and professionals are invited.

Before founding Atlanta Tech Village, the largest technology entrepreneur center in the Southeast, Cummings was co-founder at Pardot, a B2B marketing automation company that was acquired by ExactTarget in 2012. Months later, ExactTarget was acquired by salesforce.com for $2.5 billion.

“We are delighted that techpreneur David Cummings has agreed to speak at GATN’s launch event,” said Karen Cashion, founder and president of GATN, which seeks to foster a community of collaboration and connection among the 900 technology companies that call the Greater Alpharetta area home. “GATN’s mission is to promote and engage our local tech community through thought leadership, educational, and networking events. David’s experience and thought leadership on growing a community of technology innovation is an excellent fit with GATN’s mission, and will be of particular interest to the technology companies based here in the Greater Alpharetta region of North Fulton and South Forsyth.

Cashion, a corporate and technology law partner at the Alpharetta law firm of Hipes & Belle Isle and former assistant general counsel for EarthLink, Inc., founded GATN after she determined that there was no local technology group dedicated to serving the needs of the 900 technology companies and their professionals in North Fulton and South Forsyth. “While there are many technology-related events held daily in downtown Atlanta and elsewhere in the metro Atlanta area, very few have been venued out here, and there has not been an organization dedicated to the unique needs of the Greater Alpharetta tech community – until now.”

Cummings is a member of the Young Professionals’ Association, the Atlanta chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and serves on the board of the Metro Atlanta Chamber and the Buckhead Coalition. He blogs at DavidCummings.org, tweets at  (@davidcummings), is co-author of Think Outside the Inbox, and author of Startup Upstart.
