by | Blogs

With technology so vital in both business and everyday life, some risk is inevitable. Companies can face especially serious challenges, as risks evolve and new threats form.

Enter Kim Sutherland.

As senior director of fraud and identity market strategy at Alpharetta, Ga.-based LexisNexis Risk Solutions, Sutherland spends her days seeking out emerging fraud trends and finding ways to help companies effectively respond to them through the company’s solutions.

“We use big data technology, analytics, linking and customer-focused solutions to help promote transparency and inclusion in the government, commercial, and financial sectors,” Sutherland says.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions’ offerings help combat a variety of challenging, real-world scenarios, including identity theft, fraud waste and abuse, trafficking, bribery and corruption.

However, the landscape spanning fraud and risk is constantly evolving, and LexisNexis Risk with it. To do this, Sutherland says the company is focusing heavily on machine learning, alternative data content, and consumer technologies to help their customers.

“We’re really excited to continue our focus on merging the physical and digital identity assets to help companies provide positive customer experiences while maintaining strong forms of security,” Sutherland says.

Customer experience is key for Sutherland – it’s where her technological passion lies.

“I’m most passionate about technology and innovation, and how we can use technology to promote privacy while enabling customers to interact in their day-to-day life.”

Within the city of Alpharetta, Sutherland says that the city provides a number of resources to help grow its technology community. However, in addition, Alpharetta’s tech-friendly environment and proximity to Atlanta builds an extra kind of bond between company and customer.

“Many of our customers are actually located here as well, so that makes it easy to stay in contact with them on a regular basis,” Sutherland says. “Alpharetta’s also really close to the world’s largest airport, so we can stay in contact with our customers worldwide.”
